After a week’s break, TGL resumed its season with a triple head of the presidents on Monday. Teeing in the afternoon of its usual framework during proud hours, the first confrontation presented the invainu GC of Atlanta Drive GC (1-0) and the Los Angeles Golf Club (2-0).
LAGC took an advance of 1-0 at the start of the third hole, with Justin Rose flowing a 14-foot putt. However, the match was tied at 1-1 on the next hole when Justin Thomas launched the hammer for Atlanta, but Lagc refused. (Each team obtained three hammers under new rules, compared to one during the previous TGL matches.)
Sahith Theegala missed a putt on the fifth hole that would have given the head to Lagc, but the shot has launched. The two teams remained equal to 2-2 after holes 6 and 7.
LAGC won the ninth hole on a seven-feet putt to take a 3-2 lead. They built this margin at 5-2 when Tommy Fleetwood sank a birdie to win the hole 11.
However, Atlanta rallied to do it 5-4 on hole 13 with a Billy Putt out of pearl. LAGC maintained its slight edge until the hole 15 when Thomas cut to move the match to overtime.
In overtime, it is closest to the TGL PIN challenge. Fleetwood seemed to have given LAGC victory when he fled in his shot. But Patrick Cantlay finished the Atlanta rally and obtained victory, winning his shot less than five feet from the spit.
With the victory, Atlanta improved at 2-0 and will try to remain undefeated against the Bay GC at 4 p.m. HE. LAGC took its first defeat and fell to 2-0-1, but still looks like TGL’s favorite before a match next Monday against New York GC (0-2).
The Bay Golf Club and the Boston Common Golf will conclude at night in the third match of the day. This will showcase Rory McILroy and Ludvig Åberg, who was fresh out of his victory at Genesis Invitational in southern California on Sunday.
