The Female Singles Tournament in the United States is officially reduced to two players: the world’s n ° 2 and an American in its first Grand Slam final in a career.

N ° 6 Jessica Pegula beat Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 Thursday to qualify for her first grand final at the age of 30. Although she won six WTA events, she had never advanced beyond the quarter-final of A Grand Slam.

The final is scheduled for Saturday at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

In Muchova, Pegula faced a former top 10 player who lost most of his points after missing nine months of the previous year.

Muchova opened the match by playing as if she never left. She blitzé the two services of Pegula and won both in the net and the basic line, easily taking the first set and taking a break in the second. Pegula’s body language has clearly shown a player who was down.

“I was about to melt in tears because she made me look like a beginner. It was embarrassing,” said Pegula after the match.

Pegula responded by becoming more aggressive on the second Muchova service, while cleaning his service game. She was also helped by 19 unl forced errors of Muchova in the second set, even inviting her to the match.

The momentum was held in the third set, Pegula Brisant Muchova early and held from there to get the greatest victory of his career, with the greatest match of his waiting career.

During their third meeting of the year, the n ° 2 Aryna Sabalenka exceeded n ° 13 Emma Navarro, another American making her first appearance in the semi-final of the Grand Slam, in Straight Set, 6-3, 7- 6 (2).

Despite the crowd at the Arthur Ashe stadium on his side, enraged the oppressed, Navarro had no answer for the powerful service of Sabalenka (with seven AS) and the forehand. His speed helped her stay in the match with a strong defense. But Navarro had to play in defense often because she could not resume the game during her second service.

Just as it seemed that Navarro could repel the offensive of Sabalenka, the seeded n ° 2 surprised to fall. Showing the touch closer to the net while Navarro played to make up for the power of Sabalenka was a combination too difficult to cover. Trying to catch Navarro by surprise has sometimes led to unl forced errors.

However, Sabalenka’s trend to rely on her power sometimes leaves her subject to watching her services and returns rather than moving. Navarro took advantage of it, showing speed everywhere on the ground and sometimes catching Sabalenka flat to win points.

In the second set, Sabalenka won the breaking point with his powerful forehand, despite Navarro’s best efforts to follow. Trying to maintain its base while moving quickly side by side made Navarro slip and scratching your right knee. Although this did not inhibit her physically, it was an indication of the way Sabalenka beat her.

Finally, Navarro could not slow down the pace of Sabalenka and take more control of the match. Navarro retaliated with 4-3 and 5-4 in the second set, winning again with speed against the power of Sabalenka.

The second set turned into a confrontation of agility against power, Navarro holding Sabalenka and the frustrating it. Navarro’s speed along the base line helped her arrive and fight shots that Sabalenka thought was out of reach.

However, despite an incredible fight to force the second set to an equality break, Navarro had to play the catch -up throughout the match and he finally caught it. Sabalenka put a wall, winning 8 of the 10 points and straightening up after being frustrated not to be able to put Navarro.

Sabalenka passes to his second consecutive American open final.
