Sam Smith seeks to learn from the new strike partner and his new Wrexham boy, Jay Rodriguez.
Smith and the former England international Rodriguez joined the Ligue 1 promotion hunters during the January transfer window.
“He is a quality player – he’s an intelligent player,” said Smith about the former Burnley and West Brom Rodriguez striker.
“We are just trying to build a relationship as quickly as possible.
“It is difficult to come halfway from the season and not have much time to train or work on things.
“I ask him questions all the time because he is obviously a great player with a great career. The more I can learn it quickly and improve my own game, the better for the team.”
Smith scored his first goal for Wrexham in the 2-0 victory last Saturday at Northampton Town, who kept them in the promotion hunt in third.
He clung to the long ball of goalkeeper Mark Howard to strike the opening of Wrexham in the 19th minute.
“It’s a special moment and probably a moment that I will never forget,” said Smith.
“More importantly, it was a good performance and three points.
“I hope I can continue to contribute and help put pressure for promotion. Each performance is now important.”
Smith joined Wrexham from the One Rivals Reading League for unknown costs.
The 26 -year -old said that he was excited by Wrexham’s “project”, although he had mixed feelings leaving a club where he was in his second fate after initially crossed the Academy.
“It was difficult to leave reading with my association there and what the club meant for me,” added Smith.
“But it was a difficult period for the club there and that I was told that an offer had been accepted and that the club needed money to maintain the club.”
