Charlie Woods in the field for a prestigious junior event near Augusta

Tiger Woods won five masters.

His son, Charlie, should play in an elite tournament which is widely considered to be the equivalent of the junior golf of the first major of the year, The Junior Invitational in Sage Valley.

According to the list of event participants, which is available for players via a golf engineering link and was obtained by Golfchannel.com, the name of Charlie Woods appears as the 37th and last participant of the tournament from 19 to 22 Mars at the Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, South Carolina, which is not far from Augusta National. This size number on the field is surprising since the tournament generally has a field of 36 players and invitation only made up of the best junior players in the world.

A spokesperson for the tournament said to Golfchannel.com: “For the moment, we can confirm that the field is not finalized. As in the past, we will release the full field of boys and girls to draw once. The Tournament is 36 boys and 24 girls; and the web page had been withdrawn on Monday evening with the link to a page saying: “Registration is currently closed”.

The listed field also includes each of the six best players in the junior golf dashboard: n ° 1 Luke Colton, n ° 2 Louis Klein, n ° 3 Miles Russell, n ° 4 Michael Riebe, n ° 5 Tyler Watts and N ° 6 Logan Reilly. Several international players in the top 150 in the world amateur golf ranking are also registered: n ° 46 Nguyen Anh Minh, n ° 105 Lev Grinberg, n ° 126 Haoyi Wang and n ° 142 Hugo Le Goff.

Woods, 16, is classified n ° 713 on JGS. He qualified for his first American junior lover last summer before missing the match by 18 shots. His most notable victory occurred last July at the Junior PGA Cup in southern Florida, classified by Wagr. He also helped Benjamin school to a state team title in 2023, a few months after winning a Hurricane Junior Tour event.

There is also a female division of 24 players in Sage Valley, which should include nine of the 10 best JGS players, notably the reigning champion and the n ° 1 Asterisk Talley, as well as Kai Trump, the granddaughter of presidents Donald Trump . Trump, 17, is ranked n ° 2 342 in JGS and recently gave his verbal commitment to the University of Miami. She also has more than a million YouTube subscribers and was announced during the weekend as having signed an approval agreement with Taylormade, who is a partner of the Junior Invitational and also has Tiger Woods as Ambassador.

Several former winners in Sage Valley, who organized his first boys’ tournament in 2011, continued to play on the PGA Tour:
Scottie Scheffler (2014), Joaquin Niemann (2017), Akshay Bhatia (2018), Austin Eckroat (2016), Carson Young (2012) and Aldrich Potgieter (2023). The female event made its debut in 2022 with Amalie Leth-Nissen and Anna Davis winning before Talley.

This year’s tournaments will mark the first time that they are disputed on 72 holes.
